FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, MN – A Delano woman was injured Sunday evening when the ATV she was operating slid into a steep ditch in Franklin Township.
Around 6:10 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Farmington and Fannon avenues, where a deputy found Marjory Purkey, 41, lying on her back near an overturned four-wheeler. Purkey was awake and alert, but had injuries to her head, face, and left arm.
The deputy determined Purkey had been riding the ATV with a 9-year-old male passenger along Farmington Avenue when it slid into the ditch.
“It’s assumed, when they slid down the steep ditch, they were thrown off of the four wheeler,” according to the preliminary report from the deputy.
Ridgeview Ambulance transported Purkey to Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
The minor, who was not injured, had initially reported the crash, and had been picked up from the scene.
The deputy did not observe or detect any indicators of impairment, and did not believe Purkey operated the ATV in a negligent manner.
Delano Fire Department assisted the Wright County Sheriff’s Office at the scene, as did Ridgeview Ambulance.
