Waconia School District was one of 16 districts that did not make the Jan. 15 deadline mandated by the state for settling teachers’ contracts, which run in two-year cycles. Waconia failed to ratify contracts, according to KDUZ radio, causing the state to fine it $75,000. St. Cloud faces a loss in state aid of $257,000, and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City faces a fine of $24,000 to $25,000.
