INDEPENDENCE, MN – What causes a life journey to end in suicide? After the death of her 14-year-old son by suicide in 2012, Lisa Lehnherr Hansen completed her MA in educational leadership at Luther Seminary and began investing her time in learning, teaching, speaking, and writing about trauma recovery, resiliency, suicide intervention, and mental wellness for all ages.
Lehnherr Hansen will offer a presentation at Lyndale Lutheran Church, 8012 County Rd 6, Independence. It is titled “Focus on Community” and will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, with a light meal preceding it at 12:15 p.m.
Lenherr Hansen will present on her compassionate path meeting people where they are through an interactive exploration of reliable information and tested practices for understanding and addressing suicidal desperation.
“Suicide loss and suicidal desperation touches us all, whether through the effects of rising suicide rates, news of celebrity suicides, or personal experience,” states a news release from the church. “As a faith community, we must learn how to be a healing force for those whose life journeys have been marked by suicide or suicidal desperation.”
