Minnesota State Auditor Rebecca Otto will speak at the annual Minnesota Association of Townships District 7 meeting Thurs., Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. at Anoka Ramsey Community College, Cambridge campus.
District 7 includes townships within the counties of Wright, Anoka, Chisago, Hennepin, Isanti, Kanabec, Pine, Ramsey, Sherburne, and Washington.
The office of the state auditor has financial oversight of Minnesota’s approximately 1,800 townships. Otto will address current issues related to the financial governance of townships in relation to her office.
The office of the state auditor is a constitutional office that is charged with overseeing more than $20 billion spent annually by local governments in Minnesota. The state auditor’s does this by performing audits of local government financial statements, and by reviewing documents, data, reports, and complaints reported to the office. The financial information collected from local governments is analyzed and is the basis of statutory reports issued by the state auditor’s office.
