A local walking club, NorthStar Trail Travelers (NSTT) is planning a candlelight snowshoe event at Lake Maria State Park Saturday, Feb. 11. The event is open to the public
Bring your own snowshoes or sign out a pair from the park.
Two different routes have been set up near the Trail Center: a 2 km loop, and a 1 km loop.
Registration begins at 3 p.m. at the Trail Center and participants must finish the route by 9 p.m.
The cost is $2, including snowshoe rental; or $8 for the leather snowshoeing rabbit pin specially made for this event.
The event is not a race, and participants can take however much time needed, as long as they’re back by the finish time.
A participant picnic will be available all day for a donation to cover organizers’ cost.
