Message from Delano High School Assistant Principal Joseph Vieau;
As this school year comes to an end, we know it is never too early to begin preparation for next year. I am inviting you to consider giving back a bit of time to the school district. We have openings on the district Curriculum Advisory Committee. This committee is made up of community members to oversee the curriculum writing completed by the staff. We are on a six year cycle, meaning that we review one or two disciplines per year. The task of the committee is two-fold. First, the committee reviews the Annual Report on Curriculum, Instruction, and Student Achievement and recommends that the school boards approve the document. Second, the committee is charged with reviewing the curriculum documents from the writing process. We conduct three readings of the document and then again recommend board approval. The time commitment required is five Thursday evenings during the school year. We meet at 7:00 p.m. in the high school media center. We are currently looking for as many as nine community members to fill vacancies within the committee. Our meeting dates for next year are as follows: Sept. 17, December 3, March 11, and May 27. If interested in joining this committee, please contact Mr. Vieau at 763-972-3365 x 3019 or via email at jvieau@delano.k12.mn.us. Thank you for your consideration.
