Regional crime alert issued by the BCA on stolen checks

BLOOMINGTON, MN – A crime alert has been issued by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension dealing with stolen checks in Bloomington, with a suspect attempting to pass forged checks in large amounts, according to the BCA.

Geraldine Thiltgen of Kansas City, MO had her vehicle broken into and checks stolen in Bloomington July 19.

Since that time, a 26-year-old woman, identifying herself as Le-Tia Terese Morehead, of St. Paul, went to the West St. Paul Branch of Guaranty Bank Tuesday (July 28), and deposited a $4,550 check on the Thiltgen account. Thiltgen was contacted and stated the check was forged. “I suspect more of these checks will be attempted at other financial institutions as we stopped it without taking a loss,” commented Jack Talbot of Guaranty Bank.
