Pipe bursts at Delano Elementary School

DELANO, MN – A burst water pipe caused the fire alarms to sound at Delano Elementary School Tuesday afternoon, according to an email Principal Darren Schuler sent to parents.

The break occurred in a vestibule near the game entrance of the building.

“Due to the break, the fire alarms did sound and students and staff began to move toward the designated fire exits,” Schuler wrote. “Staff were able to determine quickly that the fire alarm was due to the water leak.  Most of our students and staff were able to stay in the building during the alarm, but a few classrooms exited the building quickly. Those students and teachers were notified promptly that it was safe to return. Students were not outside for more than a few minutes.”
