The General Federated Women’s Club’s concerts in the park series continues with a concert tonight (Wednesday) by Dan Newton’s Cafe Accordion Orchestra. The concert will be next to the Big Rock play area. For more information, call Community Education at (763) 972-6210.
Tonight’s scheduled Concert in the Park featuring the JARS will be moved to the Delano Middle School Auditorium due to impending weather. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature folk, blues, country, and bluegrass music. The JARS can commonly be found playing as the house band for Three Crows Cafe and Coffee House in Delano. For more information, call (763) 972-6210.
The City of Loretto learned late last week that the Hennepin County
overlay project scheduled to begin on Monday, July 26, has been moved
up to Monday, July 12.
This is the portion of Hennepin County Road 19 from Highway 55 to
Hennepin County Road 11.
There will be disruptions to driving during this time but the roadway
will always remain open. It is scheduled to last 10 working days.
Also, the fire hydrants in Loretto are scheduled to be flushed
Wednesday, July 14 in the morning hours.
The next regular city council meeting for the City of Loretto will be
Tuesday, July 13 at the city offices.
Agenda items include a report from Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff
Johnson, an ordinance for on-street parking, resolutions relating to
accepting donations, accepting fireworks donations, and discussing
feasibility options for West Railway and St. John Streets.
If you like police dogs, helicopters, fire, police, ambulances and other emergency vehicles and apparatus, this free event is for you! The Wright County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Public Safety Day at Middle School West in Albertville, Monday July 19 beginning at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to meet the men and women (and dogs) who keep citizens safe and respond to their emergencies. The highlight of the evening is a large K-9 public demonstration including 70 K-9 teams from throughout Minnesota. The K-9 demonstration portion begins at 7:00 p.m. in the STMA football stadium. On July 11 at about 6:20 a.m., a motorcycle accident was reported on Dempsey Avenue NW near 654 Dempsey Ave NW in Chatham Township. Upon arrival the driver and sole rider of the motorcycle was found deceased.
Initial investigation indicates the motorcycle, a 1978 Suzuki, had been northbound on Dempsey Avenue when it lost control at a curve in the road. The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as Edward Charles Tyler, 35, of Buffalo. Tyler was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The accident remains under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
