DELANO, MN – With her warm personality and expert banking talent, Sherri Dehn fits right in at Crow River Bank in Delano.
“So far, I love working here,” said Dehn, who became the real estate division’s assistant vice president Feb. 2. “Everybody’s super nice and very helpful.”
Dehn was drawn to Crow River Bank because of its team-like atmosphere.
“I wanted to get back to a smaller bank with more of a family-feel,” she said. “Right away, I noticed that the employees at Crow River Bank work really hard, and they all seem happy to be here.”
Dehn has been in banking for about 23 years. Her first taste of it was in high school, through a vocational banking course in Eden Prairie.
“I decided to just try it, and I loved it,” said Dehn, a native of Bloomington.
After Dehn discovered her instinctive knack for finances, she began working as a drive-through teller in the metro area.
“I very much enjoyed that job, too,” she said. In the evenings, she took classes at the American Institute of Banking, gaining extensive knowledge in commercial lending, general banking, and consumer lending.
Throughout the years, Dehn has been involved in many areas of the banking world.
“Now, I center on home loans,” she said. “The most fun thing about my job is helping first-time homebuyers.”
Dehn is adept at patiently answering questions and explaining the home-financing process. She shares in the excitement of her clients, and thoroughly enjoys helping them find the best loan options.
One program that many local homebuyers are able to take advantage of is USDA Rural Development home loans.
“It’s an awesome program,” Dehn said.
When she’s not working, Dehn enjoys spending time with her four children, ages 24, 21, 16, and 15.
“The youngest two I adopted from Russia about five years ago,” she said. “They came here without speaking English.”
Dehn, who has lived in Hanover for the past 15 years, also makes time to volunteer at her church, Salem Lutheran in Loretto.
“I’m involved in Ladies’ Aid, and we help with funerals and fundraisers,” Dehn said. “It’s nice to be able to help people in need.”
At Crow River Bank, Dehn is excited to get to know the Delano community. She can be reached directly at (763) 972-4766.
