MnDOT and Burlington Northern Railroad are wrapping up work on the Railroad Bridge

Yesterday (Wednesday), the City of Delano passed on information regarding the final construction work on the abutments of the new railroad bridge over Highway 12 in Delano. Today, the city was provided the final schedule details for this phase of the project. Burlington Northern crews are planning to wrap up work on the bridge this Friday, June 19. Kramer Construction, the contractor working beneath the bridge on the abutments and site work, will remain mobilized until Wednesday, June 24. MnDOT is planning to reopen Highway 12 under the railroad bridge at sometime Wednesday, June 24. Of course, the schedule is weather dependent and subject to Kramer Construction being able to complete its work with this allotted window of time.

Once open, this phase of construction will be substantially complete and allow MnDOT to begin construction on the final phase of Highway 12. Dunnick Brothers Construction is the general contractor that will be completing the road and utility work on the west side of town this summer and fall. Although the city has not received the formal schedule of activities, the contract allows for construction to begin July 6, 2009. The city anticipates road closures and construction activity to begin around that time and last through October.
