ROCKFORD, MN – The swimming beach at Lake Rebecca Park Reserve has been closed due to high E. coli levels.
“The culprit is probably the geese,” said Tom Knisley, a media relations specialist for Three Rivers Park District. “We’ve tested the water and should get results back sometime this week to know if we can re-open.”
The closure is posted at the entrance of the park, on the beach itself, and on the Lake Rebecca Park Reserve website.
Knisley noted that Lake Rebecca is not the only area body of water with high E. coli levels.
“There are a lot of beaches in western Hennepin county that are running into similar problems,” Knisley said.
