‘Journey Stories’ opens in Buffalo at Wright Co. Heritage Center

WRIGHT COUNTY, MN — Journey Stories, tales of how locals and their ancestors came to America, will come to the Wright County Heritage Center June 1 to July 9 as the Center hosts Journey Stories.

It is curated by William Withuhn, curator of transportation for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. In addition to the 800-square-foot exhibit, curator Erin Endress, archivist Betty Dircks, business manager Sally Stevens and volunteers have created many Wright County-specific exhibits throughout the galleries.

The Journey Stories Grand Opening Event will be held on Saturday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wright County Heritage Center and is free and open to all. Charlie Maguire, nationally renowned songwriter and folksinger, will be conducting a children’s music workshop followed by a community concert during the Grand Opening. Children should be 10 years or older and will receive a free mouth harp for participation in the class. All participants are invited and encouraged to join Charlie as his “back-up band” during the afternoon concert. Space is limited; to register a child please contact Sally at 763-682-7323.

This exhibit and activities related to it are free and open to the public. WCHS has extended their Monday hours throughout the month of June to encourage visitation. Hours of gallery operation will be Monday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Tuesday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the research library will close daily at 4:30 p.m.
