Hospice volunteers sought

Ridgeview Medical Center is seeking caring individuals who would like to serve as hospice volunteers. Hospice involves caring for patients, often in the patients own home, during the last months of life.

Care may also be provided in a long-term setting, or at Ridgeview’s Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice Home, which will open in Chaska later this summer.

Working along with the medical team, hospice volunteers provide support and companionship for terminally ill patients and their families, making it possible for family members to support their loved one.

Volunteers are responsible to provide their own transportation.

The six-week training program, which is required for each hospice volunteer, will be offered at Ridgeview Medical Center Thursday evenings, July 9 through August 13, from 5-8 pm.

There are several steps that need to be completed prior to attending. For more information about hospice and other volunteer opportunities, contact volunteer servcies at Ridgeview medical Center, (952) 442-2191, ext. 5570.
