Ham radio demo will be Saturday and Sunday
The Wright County Amateur Radio Society will demonstrate its ability
to respond to major emergencies. The exercise will simulate a 24-hour
remote emergency operation to test emergency communications.
Field Day is an annual event in which amateur radio groups all across
the United States and Canada participate. This year’s event will take
place on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29 in the Maple Lake City
Park. It is intended to train amateur radio operators, but also to
better educate the public of the role amateur radio operators play in
an emergency.
Field Day starts at 1 p.m. June 28, and runs 24 hours until 1p.m. June 29.
The public is welcome to come and see ham radio’s new capabilities and
learn how to get their own FCC radio license before the next disaster
strikes.
