ORONO — The game went to overtime, but Delano didn’t waste much extra time in picking up a 2-1 win at Orono Friday night.

Emily Olson ended overtime shortly after it began, just 21 seconds into the extra frame, on a power play.

Olson’s goal moved Delano to 10-7 overall and to 4-1 in the Wright County Conference.

Orono dropped to 6-11 overall and to 2-3 in the conference.

Both regulation goals were scored in the second period. Orono’s Holly Harrison put the Spartans on top 1-0 at 1:55 of the period. Delano’s Mary Beth Kivisto tied the game at 6:55 on a power play.

Anna Kivisto assisted on both Delano goals. Meghan Staunton had the second assist on Olson’s overtime-winner.

Karly Schmidt was the winning goaltender for Delano. She made 23 saves.

Orono’s Anna Lisle made 31 saves in the loss.
