Four fatalities reported in Independence accident Tuesday morning

Four people died as the result of involvement in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning at 9:05 a.m. in Independence in the area of Hennepin County Road 6 and Game Farm Road.

Three people traveling in a Suburban were deceased at the scene. A fourth occupant of that vehicle, a young girl, was transported via air care to North Memorial Medical Center and later died. It is being reported the fatalities include two adults and two children. The second vehicle involved in the accident was a tandem dump truck, according to West Hennepin Public Safety Director Ray McCoy, who was on the scene of the accident yet around 4:30 p.m. The roadway was re-opened to traffic around the same time. The driver of the tandem truck was not injured. No identities of any of the persons involved in the accident have been released, and McCoy said officials are working on establishing identities and notifying next of kin.

Reports indicate the Suburban was traveling westbound on County Road 6 and the dump truck was traveling east on County Road 6. Further information has not yet been released.
