Former Sen. Mark Dayton to visit Waverly Saturday

WAVERLY, MN – Former Senator Mark Dayton will visit Waverly during a “funraiser,” event at the renovated barn of John McIntosh and his wife Suzanne located at 7873 Grover Ave. SW, Waverly. A dinner with pulled pork on the menu will start around 6 p.m., Dayton will speak around 7 p.m. and the music will start around 7:30 p.m.

Dayton is among several DFL candidates that have announced their intention to run for Governor of Minnesota in the 2010 election. The event billed as a “funraiser” features an opportunity for local residents and interested parties to meet and greet Mark Dayton and hear him talk about his vision for Minnesota. The event also features notable musician Peter Ostroushko, a former musical director of Garrison Keilor’s “Prairie Home Companion.” Ostroushko’s mandolin and fiddle playing has contributed to albums for such notable performers as Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Chet Adkins and Bob Dylan. A pig roast dinner goes along with the entertainment and contribution.

McIntosh commented that “politics and fun are not mutually exclusive” and that “the general public is invited notwithstanding their political persuasion.” “We all want what’s best for Minnesota and meeting candidates in person is the best way to really learn their thoughts on how to achieve that.”
