Finance discussions await Delano City Council at tonight’s meetings

The Delano City Council will hold two meetings Tuesday, Nov. 3.
At 5 p.m., the council will hold a worksession to discuss the 2010 budget and tax levy.  The council and staff continue to work on budget details in advance of the December public hearing and presentation.
Additionally, the council will continue its look at the city’s enterprise fund operations and utility rates.
On Oct. 19, the council and municipal utilities held a joint meeting to discuss the water and sewer infrastructure fees.  The meeting Tuesday will be a continuation of those topics.
Following the worksession, the council will hold its regular meeting on the first Tuesday of the month.  The meeting will be  at 7 p.m.
The agenda for the meeting includes a staff presentation regarding the opportunity to refinance some existing debt of the city to take advantage of the current low interest rate climate.
The city has two debts totaling over $860,000 that can be refinanced to provide long-term financial savings to the city.
Also, the council will be presented with a plan to install a scoreboard at the recently named Dave Zitzloff Ballfield at Central Park.
The Delano City Council meets regularly on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at Delano City Hall, 234 2nd Street North. The meetings begin at 7 p.m.
The regular council meetings are also broadcast live on Charter Cable Channel 12. The meetings are also rebroadcast at various times throughout the week.
Playback schedules and complete city council agendas are available at city hall or on the city’s web site  at www.delano.mn.us.
