Area food drives
Delano Helping Hands is encouraging area churches and community members to host a food drive during the holidays.
Cash donations allow the food shelf to purchase food from Second Harvest Food Bank at a much lower cost per pound than the average consumer can.
Delano Helping Hands sponsors only two drives during the year and relies heavily on them to keep going throughout the year.
The holiday drive has been extremely successful in the past, and the generosity of the community is greatly appreciated.
Helping hands
Helping Hands is located in the Community Education Building at 140 Elm Avenue East in Delano.
Hours for the food shelf are every Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m., and every third Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Helping Hands will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Thursday, Dec. 24. Clients should plan their visit to the food shelf accordingly.
