Bauer named South Central College Outstanding Alum

FARIBAULT, MN – Mike Bauer, of Delano, has been named South Central College’s 2018 Outstanding Alum for the Faribault campus.

Bauer is the owner and president of Bauer Design Build, a commercial general contracting firm in Plymouth.

Bauer graduated from Faribault High School and attended what was then Faribault Area Vocational School, where he earned a degree in carpentry. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration and construction from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

He worked for Ryan Companies for 16 years before founding Bauer Design Build in Delano in 2005.

Bauer said he finds great satisfaction in knowing he is able to share his knowledge and passion for the construction industry with his clients and business partners daily, and that he places a great deal of importance on company culture and living the companies corporate values of client focus, integrity, transparency, relationships, leadership, and community.

This is not the first award for Bauer.

He received the Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award from Wright County Economic Development Partnership in 2016, and Entrepreneur of the Year by TwinWest Chamber of Commerce in 2017.

Bauer Design Build was named Business of the Year by the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce in 2016, and in 2017, was recognized by the Minnesota Subcontractors Association with the TOPS Award as General Contractor of the Year, the second time the business received that award.

Bauer sits on numerous boards, and is actively involved in community organizations. He lives in Delano with his wife, Lori, and son, Jake.

South Central College recognized Bauer, and North Mankato campus honoree Daniel Kaiser, of Medford, during commencement May 10 in Bresnan Arena on the campus of MSUM.
