People who could use a few outfits for themselves or their children may want to check out Love INC’s semi-annual clothing bag sale that starts this Saturday.
For $5, shoppers can take home a full bag of clothing from Love INC Heartland Gift and Thrift, located at 318 Railroad Avenue. It’s in the old lumberyard building near the post office.
The sale takes place Saturday, March 6 through Saturday, March 27. The store is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.
Love INC has been at its current location for almost a year, and it has both the store and offices.
“We carry gently used clothing – children’s, women’s, and men’s – and home décor, graciously donated by our community,” Love INC volunteers noted.
In addition to an extensive array of clothing, Love INC has a houseware section that includes dishes, glassware, collectibles, books, jewelry, and some antiques. Some higher priced items, such as furniture, are also available at times, in order to benefit the work of Love INC.
All proceeds for the thrift store benefit Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC), an organization of area churches with ministries that support “neighbors in need.”
A few of the ministries include providing clothing, furniture, baby items, housewares, and bedding to local people who need help.
“We appreciate all your support in any form – donating, volunteering, or shopping,” Love INC volunteers noted.
To learn more about Love INC, call (763) 972-6547 or go to www.loveincheartland.org.
Anyone with a sweet tooth and a soft heart might want to stop by the Delano American Legion Sunday, March 14 any time between 8:30 a.m. and noon.
The Delano Operation Minnesota Nice (OMN) is planning a special bake sale to help deployed US soldiers.
People will have the opportunity to purchase delicious treats and can also attend the American Legion breakfast, which will be going on at the same time.
The Delano OMN meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Delano American Legion to pack boxes for soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan who do not receive mail. The organization started four years ago, and it continues to grow.
The bake sale will help raise money to defray shipping costs and allow the group to sponsor additional deployed soldiers.
It is not necessary to support the war in order to help OMN. The organization does not take a position on where or why the troops are deployed.
According to the group’s mission statement, “We are simply here to offer a reminder that they are our heroes.”
Many soldiers do not receive mail from home, and the packages they receive from OMN are greatly appreciated. The OMN web site, www.operation minnesotanice.com, shows photos and comments from soldiers who have received care packages.
The web site also includes a complete list of local business supporters. New volunteers, as well as donations of any kind, are always welcome.
To become an individual or business supporter, contact Darlene Hayes at (763) 972-2956 or Ann Reese at (763) 972-1299. E-mail messages can be sent to info@operationminnesotanice.com.
