Breakfast with Santa is Saturday
The Delano American Legion family will be sponsoring a “Breakfast with Santa” Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Delano American Legion.
A breakfast of french toast sticks, sausage, juice, milk, and coffee will be served, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The breakfast is free and open to all family members.
Santa Claus will be present from 9 to 11 a.m. to visit with everyone and give each child a small goodie bag. Pictures will also be taken of Santa with the children for a small fee. For more information, call Pam Hoshal at (763) 972-2269.

Lutefisk and meatball julbord Saturday afternoon
The lutefisk and meatball julbord at Lyndale Lutheran Church will take place Saturday, Dec. 6 from 2 to 6 p.m.
The menu includes lutefisk, meatballs, lefse, red cabbage, rutabaga, boiled potatoes, herring, and more. Entertainment will be provided by Gilmer Lee and the Minnesota Fiddlers.
Reservations are required and may be made by calling (763) 479-1719. The cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children, and free for those under three years old.
Lyndale Lutheran Church is located on Hennepin Co. Rd. 6 in Maple Plain at the intersection of Co. Rd. 92.

Jaycee toy drive runs through Dec. 11
The Delano Jaycees, with assistance from Love in the Name of Christ (INC), will be hosting its annual Toy Drive this year.
Unwrapped toy donations may be dropped off through Thursday, Dec. 11.
Delano-based Love, Inc. will distribute the toys to local families in need Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Delano Assembly of God.
The following locations will be accepting donations: Crow River State Bank, True Valu Hardware, State Bank of Delano, Randy’s Sanitation, Delano Floral, Meyer Chiropractic, Coborn’s, Linda’s Photography, CVS Pharmacy, Delano Herald Journal, and the City of Delano.

Joint school board meeting Monday

Joint school board meeting Monday
School board members from Delano and Rockford school districts will be meeting jointly with area legislators Monday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Delano Middle School Auditorium.
Local elected officials will speak on education issues, and the Schools for Equity in Education (SEE) platform will be explained. SEE is an association of more than 60 Minnesota school districts advocating for equal, adequate and sustainable education funding for all public school districts.
The meeting is open to the public.

Veterans Day programs set

Veterans Day programs set
Delano Public Schools will host its annual Veterans Day observance Tuesday, Nov. 11 in the Delano High School Tiger Activities Center at 10 a.m. This is open to the public.
This year’s program will be somewhat unique as the veterans of the Cold War, those veterans who served between Sept. 2, 1945 and Dec. 26, 1991, will be recognized.
Delano American Legion will host a program at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11. This is open to the public.
St. Peter’s School will be hosting a Veterans Day celebration beginning at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11. Any veterans are encouraged to attend this event. The program will be in the St. Peter’s School gym.
Delano Senior Center will be hosting a Veterans Day celebration Thursday, Nov. 13 at noon at the center.
At 12:45 p.m., the “Heroes Remembered” DVD will be shown and the students who made the video will be present.

Scout dinner Saturday night
Delano Boy Scout Troop 273 is hosting a spaghetti dinner at the Delano American Legion, Saturday, Nov. 15 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Advance sale tickets are available from any troop member for $6.95, and are also available at the Delano Coborn’s Service Counter. Tickets may also be purchased at the door for $7.95.
