Area banks are asked to watch for bills

A residential burglary was reported New Year’s Eve in Buffalo, in which large amounts of currency and several thousands of dollars in jewelry were taken, according to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Between $10,000 and $15,000 was taken in the following denominations: $100 bills, $50 bills, $10, fives and one, along with several hand rolled rolls of various coins.

Buffalo Police are asking area banks to keep watch for unusual deposits made by customers in large volumes of these types of bills, when compared to normal transactions.

Suspicious activity should be reported to the local police department.
