MONTICELLO, MN — An occupant standing outside her vehicle Friday on the Interstate was struck and killed in Monticello on I-94, according to the State Patrol.
Page Humphrey, 22, of Ojibwa, Wisc. was standing outside a 1994 Buick Regal that has just lost control and rolled on its roof on the Interstate. Another occupant, Ray Sowell, 20, of Monticello was also standing outside the vehicle, when a second car struck and killed Humphrey.
Moments before, the Buick Regal had lost control and rolled over on the Interstate and came to rest on its wheels crosswise in the left lane of traffic, according to the accident report. The occupants, Humphrey and Sowell, got out of the vehicle, when Humphrey was struck by Marla Rolsing, 47, of South Haven who was driving a 2006 Honda Civic.
The crash took place at 11:45 a.m. and was technically classified as a pedestrian accident by the State Patrol, since the occupants were standing outside of their vehicle. Rolsing was not injured.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
Previously, a pedestrian fatal accident was recorded along I-94 in Monticello over Memorial Day weekend.
