DELANO, MN – Delano Elementary School Partners in Education (PIE) are hosting Toast to Art, Friday, March 16 from 7 to 10 p.m., at the Delano Heritage Center, 140 Bridge Avenue East in Delano. The event will include beer and wine tasting, a silent auction of children’s and professional’s art work, food, raffles, socializing, and fun. Toast to Art is a fundraising event for PIE. Proceeds will go directly to Delano Elementary School, to purchase materials needed to create a leveled library system and future art and science residency programs. This is an adult-oriented event; participants must be 21 years old or older to attend.
DELANO, MN – Due to pending weather conditions, the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday night (tonight) has been canceled. The meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. at the Delano Fire Station.
DELANO, MN – “The House of the Rising Sun in New Orleans” is the theme for this year’s Delano Area Chamber of Commerce party and chamber celebration, set for Bourbon Street (B’s on the River) Saturday, March 3. Tickets are $15/single or $25/couple. Only 200 tickets will be sold and are available for sale at Crow River State Bank, State Bank of Delano, Star West Chevrolet-Honda Sports, Coborn’s, and at the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce office. DELANO, MN – Delano School Board will meet for its monthly meeting tonight (Monday) Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Delano City Hall. Agenda items include a program review of the school lunch program, personnel matters, administrative reports, discussion on the operating levy, the second reading of the proposed transportation policy, the consideration of eliminating bussing for non-public middle school band students, and an appointment to fill the unexpired term on the school board. DELANO, MN – The Delano-Franklin Township Area Historical Society presents a Family Tree Workshop Saturday, March 3 from 9-11 a.m. at the Delano City Hall. This workshop is an opportunity to meet others interested in their family history and encourage each other in the sleuthing and the recording of information about our ancestors. The historical society is also hoping to start working on the “Delano Family Tree Project” so contact the family’s historian and ask them to attend to include you family’s history in the project. Novice to experienced researchers – all are welcome. Bring your own lap top if possible.
