DELANO, MN – Delano City Council will meet in special work session Tuesday night (tonight) at 7 p.m. at the Delano City Hall. Agenda items include a concept drawing for a sculpture walk, fundraising by the Delano Athletic Club, the Central Park master plan, riverbank restoration program and grant application, and the downtown Rivertown commercial building. The council will also discuss the northwest business park, consider a proclamation for congenital heart disease week, review the agenda for a boards and commissions forum set for Thursday, Feb. 2, and consider a resolution authorizing a grant application for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources community forests grant.

Helen Elizabeth Matter age 94 of Delano passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Delano. She was born January 28, 1918 to Albert and Anna (Wandersee) Adickes in Franklin Township, Minnesota.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Armand; children Janet Krause, Jane Giese, Armand Matter Jr., Sharon Stoneburner; sons-in-law Clement Farniok, Kenneth Giese, Jerry Mortensen, Jeff Stoneburner; as well as her six siblings and parents.
Helen is survived by her children Carol Mortensen, Carmen Farniok, David (Linda) Matter, Dennis Matter, Judith Sericola; 32 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchidlren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the West Pointe Church in Delano, Minnesota. Visitation is on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota. Visitation will continue on Friday 1 hour prior to the service. Pastor Tyler Grant will officiate at the services with interment in the Calvary Cemetery in Delano, Minnesota.
William John Jenson, “Bill” age 86 of Buffalo, formerly of Loretto and Minneapolis passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Lakeridge Care Center in Buffalo, Minnesota. He was born January 25, 1925 to William and Clara (Heyn) Jenson in St. Paul, Minnesota.

He is survived by his loving wife Margaret; siblings Shirley Swenson of Little Falls, Minnesota, Vernon (Deanna) Jenson Robbinsdale, Minnesota; sister-in-law Evelyn Burns of Richfield, Minnesota.
Memorial service gathering will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lakeridge Care Center in Buffalo, Minnesota.
DELANO, MN – The Citizens League, in partnership with the Bush Foundation, is hosting a community workshop, Common Cents, at Delano City Hall Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.
The event will be hosted by Delano Area Chamber of Commerce (DACC) Governmental Affairs Committee. The topic will be balancing the state budget. The workshop will be presented free of charge.
