CARVER, WRIGHT COUNTIES, MN – A convicted felon, found by the cops hiding under a bed, has admitted swiping vehicles, kiddie DVDs, spare change, jewelry, and booze from homes in or near Watertown during a two-week burglary spree last fall, the Star Tribune reported.

Mid-summer night’s street dance Saturday night

A mid-summer night’s street dance will be taking place in downtown Delano on Bridge Avenue Saturday, July 24, beginning at 7 p.m. until midnight. The dance is sponsored by the Delano Lions and the Delano Jaycees to benefit the Delano Area Educational Foundation. The Irresistibles will be playing sweet soul featuring Mick Sterling. Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased at State Bank of Delano, Three Crows, Crow River State Bank, and Coborn’s. Tickets are $15 at the door.

Volunteers needed for Relay for Life

Organizers are seeking volunteers for the Delano Relay for Life, which will take place Friday, July 30, through the night at Delano’s City Park. Volunteers will receive a meal ticket for helping. To volunteer, call (612) 281-4283.

Concert in the Park Wednesday night at Central Park

The General Federated Women’s Club’s concerts in the park series continues with a concert tonight (Wednesday) by Dan Newton’s Cafe Accordion Orchestra. The concert will be next to the Big Rock play area. For more information, call Community Education at (763) 972-6210.

Concert in the Park moved to middle school auditorium due to impending weather

Tonight’s scheduled Concert in the Park featuring the JARS will be moved to the Delano Middle School Auditorium due to impending weather. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature folk, blues, country, and bluegrass music. The JARS can commonly be found playing as the house band for Three Crows Cafe and Coffee House in Delano. For more information, call (763) 972-6210.

Roadwork taking place in Loretto this week

The City of Loretto learned late last week that the Hennepin County
overlay project scheduled to begin on Monday, July 26, has been moved
up to Monday, July 12.
This is the portion of Hennepin County Road 19 from Highway 55 to
Hennepin County Road 11.
There will be disruptions to driving during this time but the roadway
will always remain open.  It is scheduled to last 10 working days.
Also, the fire hydrants in Loretto are scheduled to be flushed
Wednesday, July 14 in the morning hours.
The next regular city council meeting for the City of Loretto will be
Tuesday, July 13 at the city offices.
Agenda items include a report from Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff
Johnson, an ordinance for on-street parking, resolutions relating to
accepting donations, accepting fireworks donations, and discussing
feasibility options for West Railway and St. John Streets.
