WRIGHT COUNTY, MN — Authorities are trying to piece together clues as to why a person was attempting to walk across I-94 west of Monticello, and then struck by two vehicles, thereby being killed Oct. 29.
The pedestrian’s identity will be announced at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. BUFFALO, MN – A Buffalo woman was wounded in the leg by a bullet as she was driving westbound on Highway 55, approaching the City of Buffalo Wednesday, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
Sandra Holtze, 67, of Buffalo was driving on Highway 55 at approximately 4:43 p.m. when she was struck by a bullet coming from outside of her vehicle. Officers from the Buffalo Police Department and Wright County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
A search of the area turned up two men who had been shooting shotguns in the area of Highway 55 and 10th St. in Buffalo Township. William Laplant, 19, of Buffalo and a juvenile male from Montrose were arrested and booked into the Wright County Jail.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the Laplant residence located on Highway 55 in Buffalo in connection with the shooting. Holtze sustained a gunshot wound to her leg and was transported to the Buffalo Hospital, treated and later released. The case is currently under investigation by the criminal division of the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
The annual “fall event” is set to take place at the Delano United Methodist Church Saturday, Nov. 7, with a lunch being served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Take-outs are available. Home-crafted treasures and baked goods will also be for sale, beginning at 10 a.m. Also, “Fluff and Puff” pillow service will be at the church from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pillows will be cleaned, sanitized, deodorized, and fluffed. Custom-made new pillows and comforters will also be for sale.
