Cub Scout Pack 312 of Montrose, sponsored and chartered by VFW Post 1901, hosted its “Join Scouting Night” Sept. 15, which kicked off another year of fun in the Scouting organization. The pack welcomed members in most grade levels.
Scouting provides a great way for young boys to experience the outdoors and have fun through activities like camping, while simultaneously building character through community service projects such as roadside cleanup, and toy and food drives.
Cub Scouts meet weekly in small groups (dens), and monthly with the entire group (pack) to share experiences, activities and recognition.
Boys in kindergarten through fifth grade are eligible and can start at any level, regardless of previous scouting experience.
Participation helps Cubs develop a sense of confidence, teamwork, responsibility, and a spirit of service.
Simply put, “Scouting is good for life.” It is good for the participant, with new friendships and experiences; good for the family, as they work and play together; good for the life of the community, through service projects and learning about being a good citizen; and good for a lifetime, through learning skills and virtues that will last.
The leaders of Pack 312 encourage any boys in kindergarten through fifth grade that were unable to attend the official Join Scouting Night to come to any of the regular meetings.
Meetings are every Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Montrose Elementary School.
For more information, call Cubmaster Brian Gilson at (763) 675-3475 or visit www.joincubs.org.
Pack 312 is part of the Northern Star Council BSA, which serves more than 100,000 young people in 21 central Minnesota and four western Wisconsin counties.
