Frost advisory issued for tonight by Nat’l Weather Service

WRIGHT and HENNEPIN COUNTIES, MN — The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for tonight for the eastern half of Minnesota from midnight until 8 a.m.

Former Sen. Mark Dayton to visit Waverly Saturday

WAVERLY, MN – Former Senator Mark Dayton will visit Waverly during a “funraiser,” event at the renovated barn of John McIntosh and his wife Suzanne located at 7873 Grover Ave. SW, Waverly. Fatal accident in northern Wright Co. Saturday

WRIGHT COUNTY, MN — An Otsego man who was a passenger in a one-car accident died as a result of the crash in northern Wright County Saturday, reported the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

Dennis Hanenburg, 51, of Otsego was flown to North Memorial Hospital by helicopter after an accident, and then shortly later died, after he was traveling in a vehicle that was southbound on Ohland Av NE near 92nd Circle in the City of Otsego.

The driver,  Gregory Thomas, 46, of Otsego, hit the right shoulder, lost control and slid into the ditch on the east side of Ohland Ave, striking a retaining wall and rolling onto its roof.  The accident took place at about 2:30 p.m.

Thomas was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.

The Elk River Fire Department, along with North Memorial Ambulance, assisted Wright County Deputies at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office

Accident claims one life in Otsego Sept. 26

Wright County Sheriff Gary Miller reports that the Wright County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a report of a one vehicle crash at approximately 2:30 PM on Sept. 26 that claimed the life of a 51-year-old man from Otsego.

The initial investigation indicated the vehicle was southbound on Ohland Ave. NE near 92nd Circle in the City of Otsego when it hit the right shoulder, lost control, and slid into the ditch on the east side of Ohland Ave, striking a retaining wall and rolling onto its roof.

The driver of the vehicle, Gregory Thomas, 46, of Otsego was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries. The passenger, Dennis Hanenburg, 51, of Otsego was flown to North Memorial Hospital by helicopter where he later died from his injuries.

The Elk River Fire Department along with North Memorial Ambulance assisted Wright County Deputies at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

Homecoming parade in Delano canceled due to weather; Fall Harvest Festival Saturday will go on

Organizers of the Delano Homecoming parade have canceled the parade this year due to weather, according to Jean Kopp, executive director of the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce. All Fall Harvest Festival activities planned for Saturday, Sept. 26 at Central Park will go on. Activities include a medallion, chili cook-off, pumpkin bowling, kids activities, and a pie-eating contest, among other activities from noon to 3 p.m. at Central Park.

Benefit for Betsy Elsen set for Sunday, Sept. 27

DELANO, MN – To help with the financial burden of costly medical treatments for cancer patient Betsy Elsen, a benefit is planned for Sunday, Sept. 27 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Delano, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
