INDEPENDENCE, MN – Two motorcyclists died in a fatal crash that took place at Wright County Road 6 and 90 this morning in Independence, reported WCCO.
Details are sketchy as of yet, but a group of five motorcyclists were traveling westbound when another cyclist traveling eastbound, who was trying to pass a truck, apparently struck the lead rider of the group in the oncoming lane, according to WCCO. The motorcyclist who tried to pass the cars is from Norwood Young America, WCCO reported.
A helmet was found near the scene, although the sheriff’s office is still in the process of trying to reconstruct the scene, along with the State Patrol, according to Lisa Kiava of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. County Road 90 is closed temporarily to aid reconstruction of the fatal scene.

The Rails to Trails Festival and the Crow River BBQ Challenge will take place July 17 & 18 at Highland Park in Watertown.

Both days there will be band bingo, BBQ challenge, softball tournament, and the family tent

July 11 - Motorcycle Run & Silent Auction - sponsored by Montrose Parks & Recreation Commission, Montrose Elementary School Parent Advisory Committee, and the Ugly Bar. Registration is at 11:00 at the Ugly Bar, $10.00 per bike or any vehicle you want to put in the run. Riders will leave at noon. There is also a silent auction from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Food will be available after the run.
