Creating Parkinsons awareness

Creating Parkinsons awareness
The National Parkinson Foundation estimates that one in 100 people
over the age of 60 and two in 100 over age 70 are diagnosed with
Parkinson’s disease (PD).
Approximately one million Americans are currently living with
Parkinson’s disease, with 50,000 new patients diagnosed each year.
That number is expected to rise significantly as our current
population ages.
Although most people think of Parkinson’s as a condition only
affecting older people, approximately 15 percent of diagnosed
individuals are under the age of 50.
An educational event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 12:30 p.m. for
individuals living with Parkinson’s, family members and interested
community members.
The event will be held at the Delano Senior Center located at 234 2nd
Street North in Delano. There is no cost to attend.
These sessions are sponsored through collaboration with Struthers
Parkinson’s Center and the Parkinson Association of Minnesota.
