Snowstorm expected to move in Sun. through Mon.; 10 inches expected

CHANHASSEN, MN — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for a storm expected to move in Sunday and last through late Monday.  Expected snowfalls may equal 10 inches over a two day period.

Fourteen fatals in Wright Co. last year

WRIGHT COUNTY, MN — Fourteen people lost their lives on roads in Wright County last year, compared to 15 people in 2008. The Minnesota Department of Pubic Safety has released a preliminary death count of 403 traffic fatalities statewide in 2009.  This is a significant drop in annual road fatalities for the state. ‘Da Shiver’ Saturday, Feb. 6 on Lake Sarah

Da Shiver Ice Fishing Tournament will take place Saturday, Feb. 6  from noon to 3 p.m. at the west end of Lake Sarah.

DAEF Gala Saturday night

The Delano Area Educational Foundation (DAEF) Caribbean gala, complete with music, fun, and food, will be Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Rockford Twp. Hall.
The 2010 gala fundraiser, “Treasures  of the Caribbean” includes a night of treasures such as appetizers, donation bar, silent and live auctions, raffles, and tunes provided by DJ and Delano teacher, John Fitzer.
The dinner will be catered by B’s on the River and will feature a tropical green salad with pineapple and papaya, coconut chicken breast, and more.
DAEF was founded in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation with a mission to enrich the learning experiences of all students in District 879 by helping them achieve academic excellence.  Last year, the foundation awarded $26,050 in grant money to Delano Schools.
Tickets for the 2010 gala are currently on sale for $40 per person at the State Bank of Delano, Absolute Automotive, any district school office, and through the Paypal link at www.delano.k12.mn.us.

GFWC Snowflake Luncheon to take place Saturday at Delano American Legion

Tickets are available for the General Federated Women’s Club (GFWC) Snowflake Luncheon at the Delano American Legion Saturday, Feb. 6, with a social beginning at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at noon.
Game prizes include gift certificates to Grand Casino Mille Lacs, Old Log Theatre, Knights of Columbus bingo dollars, Coborn’s, Flippin’ Bills, El Cazador, Dairy Queen, Downtown Beauty, and more.
