Community Education in Delano

Delano Community Education provides comprehensive life-long learning opportunities for area residents of all ages.

Programs for youth

An array of enrichment classes and recreational opportunities are offered year-round for youth of all ages. Examples include opportunities in art, music, drama, dance, science, the “Discovery Zone” summer program, an outstanding Destination Imagination program, driver’s education classroom instruction, youth service programs, and much more.

Recreation and sports programs for youth include both summer camps and school year classes for many sports, including gymnastics and American Red Cross swimming lessons.

Programs for children birth to kindergarten

All families with preschool age children are invited to participate in our Early Childhood Family Education classes and special events. We also offer Wee Tiger Preschool classes for children age 33 months up to kindergarten enrollment. See the page on Preschool options for additional information on ECFE and Wee Tiger Preschool.

Early Childhood Health and Developmental Screening (preschool screening) is usually completed between ages 3-1/2 to 4 years. If you have not received an invitation for your child, please contact our office at (763) 972-6210, ext. 4.

Tiger Kids Club (Grades K-4)
Tiger Cubs Childcare (ages 3 and 4)

Working parents love the high quality, affordable childcare offered by Tiger Kids Club (TKC), which is open from 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. throughout the year, including summer and a number of non-school days during the school year. TKC serves children from kindergarten through grade 4.

Tiger Kids Club offers homework help, supervised small and large group games, field trips, enrichment classes, and easy access to Community Education offerings. TKC also provides breakfast and snacks.

The Tiger Cubs program, a unique child care and preschool program, provides a full-day, pre-kindergarten experience for children ages 3 and 4. Through a variety of experiences, young learners will be exposed to pre-math, pre-reading, writing skills, language activities, science and art exploration, large and fine motor activities, as well as all the other benefits TKC provides. Recreation and aquatics programs for youth and adults

Delano Community Education offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities and classes for both youth and adults. Community members may use the popular Tiger Activity Center (TAC) at Delano High School for their personal fitness needs, either by purchasing an annual membership or by purchasing daily passes. The TAC accepts several insurance plan fitness reimbursement programs.

TAC facilities include a walking track, circuit training room, weight room, gyms, and aquatics programs such as lap swim, open swim, and water exercise classes. We also offer American Red Cross swimming lessons for youth. Simplify your life and have your child’s next birthday party at the TAC. Programs for adults

Adults can meet their own lifelong learning needs by participating in enrichment classes that span such topics as computers, arts, health and fitness, finance, parent education, and more. Can’t fit a class into your busy schedule? Try our online learning courses and learn at times convenient for you!

Community Education is also pleased to be a partner with the City of Delano in providing the programs of the Delano Senior Center.
